Overview

This position is in Light Products Supply & Logistics - Renewable Fuels which primarily supports the evaluation of current and future renewable regulatory impacts and manages the company’s renewable fuel supply and compliance requirements. The compliance programs currently include the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), California Cap and Trade, California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) and Oregon Clean Fuels Program. There are other programs that may need to be managed in the future but are currently only being monitored. This position collaborates with other organizations (e.g. Refining, Accounting, Legal, TT&R, ES&S, etc..) to assure that MPC meets legal requirements.

The position is located in San Antonio and reports, Regulatory Compliance Manager.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Light Products Supply & Logistics fuels compliance.

  • Become subject matter expert on market based regulations. (i.e. RFS, California Cap & Trade, California LCFS and Oregon Clean Fuels Program.)

  • Interface with government agencies to clarify requirements

  • Provide internal and external data analysis to support Renewable Fuels group

  • Support Business Development opportunities

  • Adhere to Compliance requirements by tracking credit balances

  • Forecast compliance requirements from production and operating plans

  • Coordinate with other functions as necessary to reconcile forecast and compliance requirements (coordination may require changes to operations)

  • Communicate requirements to product traders and other stakeholders

  • Responsible for reviewing and updating processes and procedures related to regulatory fuels requirements

  • Supports presentation development to communicate financial impact to management

  • Provide support for annual attestation

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or other related field is required. The individual should be self-driven with strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills, and strong collaboration skills. Prior experience in operations and interpreting regulations preferred.

2 or more years of experience in analysis and/or commercial support within the refining/energy industry required

This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
