POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Products Scheduling position is responsible for optimally scheduling products out of origin refineries/terminals and delivering products to destination terminals. Modes of distribution used to

execute the scheduling plan include: vessel, barge, pipeline, rail, and truck. The candidate will have direct interaction with a wide array of organizations within MPC and MPLX conduct business with pipelines, terminals, trading companies and other external partners. The applicant should be organized, self-motivated, team oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset.

* This position is part of a job family with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.*

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Generates and manages a 3-month inventory plan for relevant refineries and terminals on a Daily Basis.

  • Monitors refinery and terminal inventories as well as shipping schedules on a daily basis to ensure that supply meets Refining and Marketing forecasts.

  • Creates and maintains relevant scheduling entries in Right Angle to facilitate accurate pricing, accounting and risk positions within the system.

  • Nominates inspectors for heavy product pipeline and waterborne movements.

  • Issues instructions to pertinent internal and external contacts for various modes of storage and transportation.

  • Facilitates and helps execute plans with Terminals, Transport Operations, Marine, and Pipelines on any issues that would impact supply to a given terminal.

  • Prepares daily status reports to communicate supply concerns to Trading and management.

  • Executes scheduling strategies that optimize changes in supply due to operating constraints, unplanned events, and changes in market fundamentals.

  • Communicates and verifies planned movements with all stakeholders, including but not limited to traders, optimizers, internal and external counterparties, customers, suppliers, producers, marketers, terminals, vessels, and pipelines

  • Works with Operations Planning, Terminals and Marketing to develop a plan for tank conversions and planned/unplanned maintenance scenarios.

  • Develops and maintains commercial relationships with key internal and external counterparties.

  • Ability to be on call as needed to meet the needs of the business.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in related field is required

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of industry-related experience required or High School Diploma with seven (7) years of relevant experience required

  • Proven execution of equal ability in refining and marketing/petrochemical industry.
