Overview:

The Operations Specialist will champion and work to ensure safe and reliable operations at all pipeline locations by supporting the development and implementation of effective management systems designed to improve human performance. They will develop and provide necessary procedures and work processes to effectively plan and safely implement operations and project field work.

This position will report to the LA Basin Region Operations Superintendent to ensure consistency across MPL.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead change by implementing and maintaining new initiatives, which include life critical skills, hazard awareness and management of change. Engage with LA Basin Region employees regularly to facilitate discussions and acceptance of approved processes and standards. Serve as champion of change within the Region.

  2. Coordinate and support the development, review and maintenance of Commissioning Decommissioning and Recommissioning (CDR) and energy isolation plans for MPL projects and maintenance activities. Provide operational expertise and mentorship for project leaders and operations personnel in the safe execution of field work.

  3. Develop, update and manage field operating procedures to assure compliance with standards. Routinely review the local operating procedures and adapt as corporate changes occur to assure compliance.

  4. Support and facilitate local facilities’ procedural training for Region employees or assist in piloting new programs.

  5. Act as a champion for the Marathon Process Safety System. Facilitate the Marathon Process Safety System (MPSS) integration within the LA Basin Region and support L&S safety initiatives. Monitor Region compliance with MPSS elements and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.

  6. Assist in the development of operational tactics aligned with MPL and L&S goals. Assist in communicating vision and strategies to ensure understanding and promote employee ownership. Support Terminals initiatives for the East Hynes Terminal facility and act as a liaison between the two L&S Organizations.

  7. Support incident investigations through the identification, implementation and closure of field related improvements. May participate in significant investigations.

  8. Act as a key member of the LA Basin Region Incident Management Team (IMT). Actively participate in emergency preparedness initiatives.

  9. Support the Region’s SAP work processes and act as a subject matter expert to support the Region’s execution of work plans.

  10. Support the LA Basin Maintenance Area and the Maintenance Coordinator in the identification, planning, and safe execution of maintenance throughout the Region.

    Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Travel requirement is up to 15%

Pay range is $101,800 - $175,400
