The primary duties of the Engineer entail overseeing the Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Program for designated areas within the refinery, as well as conducting data analytics on inspection and corrosion data. This individual will focus on harnessing existing technologies and software solutions to enhance the integration of current inspection and reliability initiatives. This integration aims to refine work processes and improve the Site’s capacity for preemptive identification and investigation of potential corrosion issues. The individual's efforts will be focused within the strategic area of the Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity (FEMI) Group.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Risk Based Inspections for certain areas of the refinery

  • Perform equipment/component level risk analyses in GE APM RBI Software

  • Evergreen RBI evaluations and recommendations after inspections are performed or changes made to the equipment

  • Assist Unit Inspectors in planning inspections based off of RBI results

  • Assess inspection reports to review RBI effectiveness of inspections

  • Coordinate/participate in corrosion studies, damage mechanism assessments and RBI reassessments/revalidations

  • Develop RBI management system/work process/IDMS dashboards to fully integrate the evaluation, planning, execution and documentation of RBI related tasks and inspections into GE APM

  • Leverage GE APM capabilities to organize and perform data analytics on Inspection thickness and corrosion information with the goal of proactive identification of potential problems

  • Develop GE APM tools to assist in the QA/QC of inspection related entered thickness data

  • Utilize capabilities of GE APM to integrate and tie together multiple MI efforts such as Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs), Corrosion loops, piping circuits, RBI components, and thickness monitoring information to improve asset health monitoring, Turnaround Planning, and troubleshooting potential corrosion problems

  • Liaison between the FEMI Department and the Major Capital Projects Group to lead the asset integration effort with respect to Inspection related MI information. This could include identifying which MI programs are impacted depending on scope of the project, reviewing contractor proposals, and leading a cross-functional team of MI stakeholders (Inspection APM Coordinator, Lead Unit Inspector, Corrosion Engineer, IOW Champion, etc.) to satisfy required program updates and review of deliverables.

  • Identify what inspection information or programs can be integrated into Universal Plant Viewer Tool to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of FEMI work processes

  • Supports FEMI efforts during turnarounds by investigating findings, assisting in evaluating damage, potentially performing or overseeing fitness for service evaluations, and developing repair plans

  • Participates in the Division’s Tier I, II, and III audits as required

  • Participates in Unit HAZOPs as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Corrosion and Materials Engineering

  • 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Corrosion and Materials Engineering, RBI Inspection

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably, the candidate should possess certification in at least one of the established API 510, 570, 653 Inspection Codes.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection methodologies and API 580/581 standards.

  • Relevant experience in fixed equipment engineering/inspection.
