Summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation, based in Findlay, OH, is searching for a dynamic and strategic HR leader to join the Talent Management Team. Reporting directly to the VP of Talent & Organizational Capability, the Head of Performance & Succession will work collaboratively with leaders and HR Consultants across the enterprise to support the achievement of Marathon Petroleum’s organizational goals by leading the design and implementation of the Performance & Succession Management Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of Talent & Organizational Capability, business leaders, and HR Consultants (HRC’s) to evaluate, identify and implement contemporary performance and succession management programs to support current and future business needs.

  • Develop strong partnerships with HR Consultants (HRC’s) and HR COE’s to enable the planning, assessment, development, and movement of talent in support of enterprise talent strategies.

  • Develop, enhance, and evaluate current systems, tools, processes, communication, and training strategies to support effective performance and succession management programs.

  • Research best practices and market trends in performance and succession management and develops strategies to ensure integration of performance and succession management processes across HR.

  • Provides coaching and guidance to leadership and HR on broad talent topics such as organizational effectiveness, leadership development, career development, performance and succession management to ensure integration across the Talent & Organizational Capability team.

  • Develops performance indicators to track effectiveness, impact, and ROI of performance and succession management initiatives.

  • Lead, coach and inspire a team of talent management professionals. Responsible for managing the budget for performance and succession management initiatives.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in human resources or related discipline required.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in HR with direct accountability leading enterprise-wide performance management and succession planning, including executive succession planning.

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, including working with and presenting to leaders at all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

  • High energy, results and execution focused with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Strong business acumen, ethical decision making and relationship management skills.
